# How reviews and ratings work

A member's rating is the average of their visible reviews. Each review card also tells you who wrote it, what kind of experience it confirms, and when it was posted.

## Read a review card

Every review shows a 1 to 5 star rating, the reviewer's name, the date, and any written details or media. A check beside the reviewer's name means that person has verified their identity. It does not change the rating they gave.

The label at the top of the card explains the review's source:

- **Transaction Review** confirms a completed animal sale on Creatures.
- **Verified Review** is linked to another eligible Creatures service, such as a booking or transport.
- **Review** is a public profile review and is not tied to a confirmed sale or service.

Reviews can also include photos or video. Members can react, share the review, or add a public comment below it.

## How the overall rating is calculated

The score on the **Reviews** tab is the average of all visible reviews, shown out of 5 with the total number of reviews. Both verified reviews and profile reviews count.

A verified review joins the profile and its average rating after both people submit, or when the 30-day window ends.

An organization's profile combines reviews of the organization and its team members. A person's profile also includes reviews of organizations they own. These totals can differ, so open the review and check who it is about.

## Where you will see ratings

Ratings appear on profile **Reviews** tabs and on many marketplace and service cards. A card shows **New** when the profile has no visible reviews yet. Open the profile when you want to read the review details instead of relying on the number alone.

## Keep the labels in context

A high score is useful, but the label and written details explain what the reviewer actually experienced. Give the most weight to recent reviews about the kind of sale or service you are considering.
