# Keep purchased genetics in storage

When a seller offers storage, you can buy straws or embryos and leave them in the seller's tank instead of having them shipped. After you pay, you confirm which storage plan will hold them, and the facility then records the material in your name.

A storage plan is a monthly storage account with the provider. Moving purchased material into it is called a storage transfer.

## At checkout

On the listing, look under **After purchase** and choose **Keep it stored with** followed by the seller's name. Nothing ships. The facility keeps the material and moves it into your name.

Your choice is locked once you pay. Creatures holds the payment until the facility records the material in your name and the receipt window closes with no problem reported.

## Confirm your storage plan within 14 days

1. Open **Dashboard** > **Buying** > **Purchases**. The purchase is marked **Choose your storage plan** under **Needs action**.
2. In the **Storage transfer** panel, pick where the material goes. **Use this subscription** adds it to a storage account you already have with this provider. **Start storage setup** opens a new account on the service the seller chose.
3. Compare the **Current monthly rate** with the **New monthly rate**. The **Customer fee** is the 5% Creatures fee for card billing.
4. Turn on **I agree to this storage billing change.** and select the button.

No prorated charge is collected today. The new rate is used on your next storage invoice after the provider records receipt.

A new account still needs its own setup. With card billing, that includes the first monthly payment. The steps match [starting any storage account](https://help.creatures.com/en/article/subscribing-to-genetic-storage-16yrhwy/).

## What happens next

The provider checks the material in and records receipt. It then shows as stored in **My storage accounts** and in your Genetics inventory. You don't use **Confirm receipt** for a stored purchase, because the facility's record confirms it.

The receipt window runs for 7 days after the facility records the material. If the count or labels look wrong, use **Report a delivery problem** on the purchase before it closes.

## If something goes wrong

- **The provider declines the intake.** The purchase then says **Choose another storage plan**. Pick a new destination, or contact Support.
- **A step runs late.** If you or the provider miss a deadline, Creatures sends a reminder. If the step is still not done about 7 days later, the transfer is cancelled and your refund starts.
