# Keeping your purchase private

Use the privacy choice at checkout when you want the new animal and purchase activity hidden from public discovery.

## Choose privacy before paying

The choice appears for each eligible animal. The control is **Keep this sale private** in the cart and on auction-win checkout, and **Keep this animal private** on a single-listing checkout. In a cart, review it item by item. Turning it on makes the animal private as the purchase is completed.

The privacy choice suppresses the public acquisition post and removes the animal from public search and your public profile. It also prevents the sale alert from identifying the buyer through watchlist or saved-search activity.

## What remains available

Privacy does not erase the purchase. You and the other sale party can still use the purchase, handoff, payment record, animal profile, and records allowed by your roles. Buyer protection and seller payout timing do not change.

If the animal was sold through a sale event, that event can keep a limited **Private sale** comparison with the animal category and price. The main **Recently sold** marketplace does not include private animals. On the event, unrelated visitors do not see the animal photo, name, seller, location, or registry, and they cannot open the sold listing.

After the sale, manage the animal's wider visibility from its profile. Changing profile visibility later does not rewrite the original payment record.
