# Setting up your profile

Your personal profile helps other members recognize you, see your animals and listings, and decide whether to connect. A clear name, short bio, general location, and real photo are more useful than a long introduction.

## Add your profile details

1. Open your own profile and select **Edit profile**.
2. Enter your **First name** and **Last name**. If Creatures suggests different capitalization, turn on **Display my name exactly as I enter it** to keep your version.
3. Choose a unique **Username** with 4 to 32 characters. Start with a letter and use only letters, numbers, and hyphens. Creatures saves it in lowercase. Changing it later also changes your public profile address.

4. Write a short **Bio** about who you are and the animals or work people can expect to see. Select **Help me write** if you want a starting draft, then edit it in your own voice.
5. Under **Location**, search for your address. Only your city and state are shown publicly; the street address is kept private.
6. Under **Links**, add any website or social profiles you want visitors to see. You can enter a handle such as `@harperfarms` or paste a profile link. Leave services you do not use blank.

7. Select **Save changes**.

## Add a profile photo and cover

Return to your profile after saving.

- Select the camera icon on your profile picture to open **Set Profile Picture**.
- Select **Add cover** to add the wide image across the top of your profile.

Choose a photo from your device and crop it so the important part remains clear at a small size. On a computer, you can also drag and drop, paste, or select **Use your phone**. A friendly, recent photo is usually more helpful than a logo on a personal profile. Use an [organization profile](https://help.creatures.com/en/article/creating-an-organization-and-adding-your-team-15zqme2/) for a farm or business brand.

## What visitors see

Your profile always shows **Posts**, **Animals**, **Listings**, **Reviews**, and **Reviews given**. **Sold**, **Services**, and **Experiences** appear with activity. **Genetics** always appears on your own profile; visitors see it only when you have public genetics items.
