# Subscribing to genetic storage

A storage account connects your breeding material with the provider holding it. You can track stored units and request a release, shipment, or use; payment is either through Creatures or arranged separately with the provider.

## 1. Choose a storage service

Open the [Storage marketplace](https://creatures.com/marketplace/storage), then review the provider, location, accepted material, terms, approval requirement, and billing method.

The monthly price may cover one account or be based on an approved number of inventory items or units. Item- or unit-based plans require provider approval. Check the rate and read **Storage terms**, including any minimum term the provider states there.

## 2. Review the first and future bills

Select **Start storage**, or **Apply for storage** if provider approval is required first. Approval alone does not start a card subscription. Once approved, return to the service to finish setup.

Add notes for the provider and review the summary. **Subscribe with card** adds a 5% Creatures service fee and saves your payment method for monthly renewal.

A promo code or available Creatures Credit can reduce the **first invoice only**. They do not reduce later renewals. For item- or unit-based plans, coordinate future count and billing adjustments with the provider.

If offered, **Start with offline billing** is a separate choice. The provider invoices or collects payment outside Creatures, without the card-billing service fee. Creatures still tracks the account and material.

## 3. Manage the account

Open [My storage accounts](https://creatures.com/dashboard/my-storage) for the rate, billing method, stored amount, and pending intake. Use **Request release, shipment, or use**, enter the material, quantity, and instructions, then **Send request**.

An empty account does not cancel itself. Select **Close storage account** when empty, or **Cancel storage** while material remains. Card renewal stops at the end of the billing period; an offline account's Creatures record closes immediately. Arrange any remaining material's release and outstanding offline payment directly with the provider.

## Keep a marketplace purchase stored

If you choose the seller's storage option at genetics checkout, open the purchase's **Storage transfer** panel to choose its destination within 14 days. If a required step stays overdue, Creatures sends a reminder, then cancels the transfer and starts refund processing seven days later if it is still unfinished.

Use an existing subscription when offered, or **Start storage setup** for the seller-selected service. Compare the current and new monthly rates before selecting **I agree to this storage billing change**. An existing offline account can show a zero customer fee, while new card setup includes the 5% fee.

The count change has no prorated charge that day and applies to the next invoice after provider receipt. Starting a new subscription still requires its own setup and first payment if card billed. The provider must record receipt before the material is shown as stored.
