# Verifying your identity

Identity verification confirms that a real person is behind a seller account. Creatures uses Stripe Identity for the check. You provide a government photo ID and a quick live selfie to Stripe; those sensitive images and document details are not shown on your public profile.

## Complete the ID check

1. Choose **Verify ID** from a verification checklist or your profile.
2. Choose **Start ID check**.
3. Follow Stripe's prompts to photograph your ID and take the selfie.
4. Return to Creatures when Stripe finishes. The step is complete after Stripe approves it, not just after you submit the photos.

Use clear lighting, keep the whole document in frame, and verify the person whose Creatures account you are using. If Stripe needs another image, select **Continue ID check** and follow its prompts.

## Where the step appears

Selling, agreements, deposits, transport, and other trusted actions may show a short readiness checklist. A pending step is labeled **Verify your identity**. After Stripe approves the check, it changes to **Identity verified**.

Phone verification and identity verification are separate. Publishing a public listing and accepting buyer payments need both, so complete the other step if the page still asks for it. See [Verifying your phone number](https://help.creatures.com/en/article/verifying-your-phone-number-1n2mfmy/).

## If your payout name needs review

After Stripe verifies the ID, Creatures compares the verified legal name with the name on your Creatures profile. A nickname, prior name, initials, or business name may need a person to review it.

You can still build, share, and sell after Stripe verifies your identity. A payout name review affects **withdrawals only**. Eligible proceeds remain in your Creatures Wallet while the review is open.

The Verify ID page tells you what is happening:

- **Payout name check in progress** means the review is waiting to clear.
- **We need a bit more to finish your payout check** means support needs information from you.
- **Your payout name check needs support** means it could not clear automatically.

Follow the support link on the card when one is shown. Once your ID is verified, no payout review card means this name check is clear. You still need a ready [payout account](https://help.creatures.com/en/article/connecting-your-payout-account-85mhws/) and an available Wallet balance to withdraw.

If you own or co-own an organization, completing identity verification also confirms the organization's identity trust step.
