Understanding Creatures Transportation

Getting your animal from the seller's location to yours is one of the most common concerns for buyers. Creatures offers three ways to handle transport, whether you're buying a Highland cow across the country or a puppy from the next state over.

Seller-offered delivery

Some sellers offer delivery directly on their listings. When a seller enables this option, you'll see a calculated delivery cost at checkout based on your location.

Sellers set their own base rate, per-mile rate, and maximum delivery distance. The delivery price appears as a separate line item during checkout, so you can see the animal price and transport cost broken out before you pay.

If you add seller-offered delivery to your purchase, the standard buyer service fee applies to the delivery cost.

Standalone transport listings

Professional animal transporters can list their services on Creatures as a "Transportation Service" listing. These listings are separate from any specific animal sale.

Each transport listing includes the provider's service area, rates, vehicle type, and capacity. You can browse transport listings, view the provider's organization profile and reviews, and request a quote for your specific route.

When you request a quote, the platform estimates a price based on distance and the provider's per-mile rate. The transport provider then reviews your request and sends a final quote. You can accept or decline the quote based on your needs.

Funds for standalone transport bookings are held by Creatures until you confirm delivery, the same way animal purchase funds work.

Creatures Transport

Every eligible listing in the continental U.S. shows a "Creatures Transport" option at checkout, even if the seller doesn't offer their own delivery. This is Creatures acting as a transport coordinator on your behalf.

You'll see two pricing options:

  • Direct load: Your animal gets a dedicated haul from pickup to delivery.
  • Shared load: Your animal shares the trailer with other animals heading in a similar direction, at a lower cost.

Pricing is based on the distance between the seller's location and yours, calculated by animal category (livestock vs. small animals have different rates). Short-haul trips have a base rate minimum.

When you select Creatures Transport at checkout, you pay the quoted rate upfront as a separate line item. From there, Creatures coordinates with verified transport providers to fulfill the delivery. You can track the status of your transport request from your dashboard.

Transport status lifecycle

Every transport request moves through a series of statuses:

Requested -- You've submitted a transport request or added Creatures Transport at checkout.

Awaiting quote -- For standalone transport requests, the provider is reviewing your route and preparing a final price.

Accepted -- The quote has been accepted (or for Creatures Transport, a provider has been assigned).

In transit -- Your animal is on the way.

Delivered -- The transport provider has completed delivery.

Completed -- You've confirmed delivery and funds are released to the transport provider.

For transport providers

If you operate an animal hauling business, you can list your services on Creatures and receive transport requests from buyers.

To get started, you'll need to apply as a transport provider through your dashboard. The application requires your business name, license, and proof of insurance. Creatures verifies your insurance before approving your application, and your account will be suspended if your insurance expires until you upload a renewed policy.

Once approved, you can create a transport listing with your service area, rates, photos, and a description of your services. Your listing will be linked to your organization profile on Creatures, giving buyers a full view of your business.

You can also view transport opportunities through a dedicated section of your dashboard, where buyers have requested Creatures-coordinated transport for routes in your area.

Notifications

Transport-related notifications are included in your account notification settings. You'll receive email and in-app alerts for quote requests, accepted or declined quotes, and delivery status changes. You can adjust these preferences from your notification settings. Payment and fees

Transport fees follow the same payment structure as animal purchases on Creatures. The standard buyer service fee applies to all transport options. Seller service fees apply to transport providers offering delivery, unless they have a Creatures Pro subscription.

Creatures holds all transport funds until the buyer confirms delivery. This protects both parties throughout the process.
