Getting Creatures on your phone (add it to your home screen)

Creatures installs straight from your phone's browser, so there is nothing to download from the App Store or Google Play. The home-screen version opens like an app and keeps you signed in.

Open the install steps

Sign in using Safari (iPhone or iPad) or Chrome (Android). Tap your profile picture at the top of the screen (your photo, or your first initial if you haven't added one), then tap Get the app. If your browser offers its own install prompt, follow it. Otherwise Creatures shows Add Creatures to your home screen with the steps for your phone. You can also type "app" in search and select Get the Creatures app, or open creatures.com/install-app on your phone.

Care helpers have Get the app in their menu too. After you add your first animal, Creatures may also offer it under Keep Creatures handy, in More on the next screen.

On iPhone or iPad

Add Creatures to your home screen steps for iPhone

Open Creatures in Safari.
Tap ••• (the three dots) next to the address bar, then Share. If Share is already in your toolbar, tap it.
Scroll down and choose Add to Home Screen. Keep Open as Web App on, then tap Add.

On Android

Open Creatures in Chrome.
Open the browser menu (the three dots).
Tap Install app or Add to Home screen.

Then open Creatures from the new icon. If it asks you to sign in, enter the code right there, inside the app, so it remembers you.

Is there an App Store or Google Play app?

Not yet. Full iPhone and Android apps are planned, with no timeline yet. Until then, the home-screen version gives you an icon, opens full screen and keeps you signed in. It uses the same account and records, so nothing needs to move when the store apps arrive.

If you opened Creatures inside Facebook or Instagram

Links in Facebook, Instagram and similar apps open in that app's own small browser. It may not keep your Creatures sign-in, and it can't add Creatures to your home screen. Creatures helps you move to your real browser:

A bar says "You're in Instagram's browser." Tap Open in Safari (or Open in Chrome on Android) to stay signed in next time. It shows on Home right away, and on other pages once you have an animal. Tap the X to hide it for a week.
Your account menu also has Open in Safari, and Get the app starts with Open in Safari, signed in. On Android, both say Chrome.
After you add an animal, More on the next screen has Continue adding in Safari and Continue adding in Chrome on iPhone, so pick the browser you use. On Android, it has Continue adding in Chrome. Either one brings you back to adding animals.

Safari (or Chrome) opens and shows Continue as with your name. That link works once and only for 10 minutes, so continue only if you just tapped it. Then follow the install steps above for your phone.

On a phone, a bar along the bottom keeps the main places in reach.

Care helpers see only Today and Support.

Create starts with Add animal and Import animals. Once you have animals, the first row is Add another and your newest animal's kind, such as Add another Nubian goat, which starts from that animal's details. Then come Add to-do, New listing, Add record, New group and New post, plus Money or receipt for farm money. When they fit your animals, it also shows Collect eggs, Set eggs or Log milking. On an animal's page, Add record reads Add a record for and the animal's name.

Good to know

The installed version uses the same account and records as the website. Removing the icon doesn't delete anything, and you can add it again any time. Inside the installed app, Get the app no longer shows in the menu.
