Blocking and reporting another member

Most of Creatures is open: any member can message any other member. When you need a member or an organization to leave you alone, blocking is the tool, and when something breaks the rules, reporting sends it to the team. This guide covers both, where to reach them, and exactly what each one does.

What blocking does

Blocking is platform-wide, not limited to one conversation. When you block someone:

• Your conversations with them are hidden from your inbox. The thread drops out of your messages list while the block is in place.
• They can no longer message you. Sending is stopped in both directions, so neither of you can post a new message in the thread while the block stands.
• They are filtered out of your message recipient picker. When you start a new message, a blocked member or organization does not appear in the search of who to write to, so you will not accidentally reopen a line to them.
• The conversation goes quiet on both sides. Inside a blocked thread the reaction and reply controls are turned off, so it cannot be reacted to or replied to until you unblock.

A few things blocking is not: it is not a report (it does not notify or involve the Creatures team), and it is not a way to hide someone's public posts or profile from you. It is specifically about direct contact, your inbox and who can message you.

Blocking works on a person or an organization

Because messaging treats people and organizations the same way (you can message either), blocking covers both. You can block an individual member or an entire organization, and the same hide-and-stop effects apply. Unblocking, likewise, works the same for both. One exception: official Creatures staff accounts cannot be blocked, so your support and welcome channel with the Creatures team always stays open, and the Block action is not shown on those profiles.

Where to block from

You can block in two places, whichever is in front of you:

• From a conversation. Open the conversation's top-right actions menu (the dots button next to the other member's name) and choose Block. This is the fastest path when a thread is already open. See Messaging other members for the conversation actions in context.
• From a profile. On a member's or an organization's profile, open the actions menu (the chevron next to the Follow controls) and choose Block. This is how you block someone you are not already in a thread with. If you have already blocked them, the profile shows an Unblock to message action instead, because you must unblock before you can write to them.

Unblocking

Blocking is always reversible. Unblock appears in the same places Block did, the conversation actions menu, the blocked conversation's banner, and the profile actions menu. Unblocking lifts every effect at once: the conversation returns to your inbox, messages can flow again, and the member reappears in your recipient picker. There is no penalty or notification either way; you can block and unblock as your needs change.

Reporting a conversation to moderation

Blocking handles your own inbox; reporting is how you flag a conversation for the Creatures team to review.

• What it is: from a conversation's actions menu, choose Report conversation. You add a short reason (it cannot be empty), and reporting is rate-limited so it cannot be spammed. Reporting the same conversation again adds to your existing report rather than opening a new one.
• Block at the same time: the report screen also offers to block the member as you report, so you can stop the contact and flag it for review in a single step.
• Where it goes and what you see: the report goes to Creatures moderation. There is no public outcome; the team reviews the conversation and acts on the account. You will not see or manage the result yourself.
