Claiming your association membership

Claiming your association membership

When an association you belong to uploads its membership roster to Creatures, your membership can be matched to your account so it powers a verified-member badge and, for a first qualifying claim, a free year of Pro. This article explains how to claim it.

Where claims appear

Your claims are at creatures.com/association/claims, titled Claim Association Membership. Creatures does not send a notification when an association imports its roster, so open this page yourself: check it when you know your association has joined Creatures, or any time you want to see whether a membership is waiting for you.

How the match works

Creatures matches roster rows to members by verified email only. When an association's roster includes an email you have verified on your Creatures account, that membership appears here as a claimable match. If nothing appears yet, that is expected: as the page says, verified email matches appear here after an association imports its roster. Make sure the email your association has for you is verified on your account. See Notification and account settings.

Claiming a membership

A claimable association membership

Each match is a card marked Matched by verified email, showing the association and your member number. Claiming connects that roster row to your account, and it does three things:

  • It powers your verified-member badge, which stays live as long as your standing with the association is active.
  • It lets the profile you choose appear in the association's public member directory.
  • It can apply a complimentary year of Creatures Pro to that profile, with the marketplace fee benefits included. The grant comes with the first qualifying claim: your membership must be in good standing when you claim, and the chosen recipient must not have already received this lifetime benefit (it is once per recipient, ever). If those conditions do not hold, your claim still completes; there is just no Pro grant with it. See Creatures Pro: pricing, benefits, and managing your plan.

The choice: your personal profile or a farm organization

The card asks you to pick the Public directory subject and Pro recipient:

  • My personal profile: the badge, the directory listing, and the free Pro year all go to you personally.
  • A farm organization you own or co-own: the badge, listing, and Pro year go to that organization instead.

What it means: the profile you choose is the one shown publicly in the directory and, when the grant applies, the one credited with the free year of Pro. If you run a farm and want the recognition on the farm, pick the organization; otherwise keep it personal. You can only choose organizations you own or co-own.

Choose Claim membership to finish. From there, your standing and badge are managed by the association; see Importing and managing your membership roster for how that side works.
