The Creatures Tools page: calculators, visualizers, and generators

Creatures keeps a small set of free tools at /tools, built for breeders and animal enthusiasts. They are public and free: you do not need a Creatures account to use any of them, and none of them write anything to your animals or your account. You give some inputs, the tool gives you an answer or a picture, and that is it.

Calculator or visualizer? The plain difference

The tools come in two shapes, and it helps to know which is which:

• A calculator takes inputs and computes an answer. You give it numbers or choices, and it returns a result: a due date, an estimated weight, the odds of each offspring color.
• A visualizer lets you toggle settings and watch a picture change, so you can learn how something works. You are not entering data to get a single answer; you are exploring.

Everything on the Tools page is one or the other (the name generators are a third kind: they ask an AI to write you ideas).

What lives on the Tools page

The landing page shows five tool families. Here is who each is for and what it does:

• Coat Color Calculators. Pick two parents and predict the offspring coat colors, with the odds of each. This is the planning tool for a pairing. See Coat color calculator and visualizer.
• Coat Color Visualizers. Toggle one animal's genes and watch its coat change, to learn how its genes produce its color. This is the learning tool. Also covered in Coat color calculator and visualizer.
• Gestation Calculators. Track pregnancy timelines and due dates. This tool has its own full guide: see Using the gestation calculator.
• Animal Name Generators. Ask an AI for creative, memorable names for your animals. See Animal and organization name generators.
• Organization Name Generators. Ask an AI for professional names for a farm, ranch, cattery, or other animal business. Also covered in Animal and organization name generators.

A sixth tool: the weight estimator

There is one more tool that is not pinned to the landing page yet: a weight calculator that estimates an animal's weight from two tape measurements, for ten species. You reach it directly at /tools/weight_calculator?species={species} (for example ?species=cattle or ?species=horse). It has its own guide: see Estimating animal weight with the weight calculator.

What the tools do and do not save

This is worth being clear about, because it is the most common question:

• The calculators and visualizers compute their result in your browser or hand it back on the page. None of them save anything to your animals or your account.
• The name generators are the same: the names live only on the page until you regenerate or leave. The generator does offer a button to create a real animal or organization profile if you adopt a name, but that is a separate, optional step you choose, not something the tool does automatically.

So you can use any tool freely, signed in or signed out, without changing a single record.
