Managing your boarding business

Managing your boarding business

Once your boarding service is live, you run it from three dashboard views: your services, your incoming applications, and your active customers. This guide covers each one and the decisions you make there.

Boarding applications waiting for your review

Your services: publish and pause

/dashboard/boarding lists every boarding service you have created, in whatever state it is in (draft, active, paused, or archived). From here you control whether each one is open for business:

  • Publish. Take a draft (or a paused service) live so customers can find and book it. Publishing requires your verification and a connected payout account to be in place; if they are not, Creatures tells you what is missing instead of publishing. For the setup, see Listing a boarding service.
  • Pause. Take an active service off the market without deleting it. New customers can no longer book, but existing subscriptions keep running. Use pause when you are at capacity or stepping away, then publish again when you have room.

This is also where you edit a service's details or open it to make changes.

Applications: who wants to board with you

If a service requires approval, customers cannot subscribe until you approve their application. /dashboard/boarding/apps is where you review them. Each application has one of three statuses:

  • Pending. A new application waiting on you. The customer has answered your form and chosen the animals they want to board, but cannot subscribe yet. This is your queue to work through.
  • Approved. You said yes. Approving an application is what unlocks subscribing for that customer: only after approval can they set up their recurring boarding subscription. Approval does not charge them; it clears the way for them to subscribe when they are ready.
  • Rejected. You turned the application down. The customer is notified and cannot subscribe to that service.

Reviewing an application, you can see the customer's answers and the specific animals they applied with, so you can decide based on who they are and what they are boarding, not just a name.

Your active boarding customers

Customers: your active subscriptions

/dashboard/boarding/customers shows the customers currently boarding with you: the active subscriptions, the animals, and the recurring amount. This is your at-a-glance view of who is in your care right now and what each booking is worth.

Each subscription bills monthly for as long as it runs. A customer on a month-to-month subscription can cancel any time; a customer under a minimum commitment is held to it until their end date, which is why a commitment gives you steadier, more predictable bookings. Your share of each payment lands in your Creatures Wallet, where you can track it and withdraw it to your bank; see Your Creatures Wallet: balance, holds, and getting paid. For how the customer experiences booking, paying, and cancelling, see Boarding your animals with a provider.
