Reminders and upcoming care
Reminders and upcoming care
Reminders keep you ahead of due care so a booster or a recheck never slips. They appear on the animal's Records tab and can sync to your own calendar.
Set a reminder

You can always create a reminder by hand. On the Records tab choose Add record, then Reminder, and fill in:
- Title: what needs doing.
- Due date: when it is due. You will be notified on this date.
- Completed by logging a...: optional, and the field that makes a reminder actionable. Pick the record type this reminder is really about (a vaccination, a medication, a routine-care task, and so on) and you will be able to finish it in one click later, by logging that record straight from the reminder. Leave it on Nothing to log (reminder only) for a plain nudge.
- Prefill: appears once you choose a completion type. Whatever you enter here (a vaccine name, a product) is copied into the record when you complete the reminder, so the one-click finish lands with the detail already filled in.
- Repeat: turn on Repeat every to make the reminder recurring, then set the interval in days, weeks, or months, and an optional Until date to stop it. Leave it off for a one-time reminder.
- Additional notification before the due date (days): under Expand extra fields, an optional early heads-up. Enter how many days ahead of the due date you want a first nudge (for example 7), so the task starts showing as upcoming before it is actually due.
- Description: an optional notes field for any extra detail about the reminder.
Reminders are private to you and your team, so they never appear on the animal's public profile. They are your task list, not a public record.
Follow-ups create reminders automatically
You usually do not have to create reminders by hand. Whenever you set a follow-up date on a vaccination, medication, examination, or routine care record, Creatures creates the matching reminder for you, carrying the record's detail forward (the vaccine name, the medication) so the follow-up already knows what it is for. That is how "next booster due" or "repeat in 14 days" lands on your list with no extra step, ready to finish in one click when it comes due. For reproductive routines like a pre-breeding vaccine series or a timed-AI synchronization, breeding and reproductive care protocols schedule these same reminders from a repeatable plan.
The Upcoming care strip
The Records tab shows an Upcoming care strip with everything due in the next 30 days, with overdue items highlighted so they stand out.

Each due item carries the actions that fit it:
- Mark done: the one-click finish. It appears on any reminder that is tied to a record type and already has the detail to log it (for example an auto-created vaccination follow-up that carries the vaccine name). Selecting it creates that record, dated today, and clears the reminder in a single step, so a routine booster is done without opening a form.
- Edit details (shown as Log now on care-plan items): opens the record form already filled in from the reminder, so you can adjust a dose or a date before you save. Use this when the visit was not quite standard.
- Edit reminder: change the reminder itself, its title, date, or repeat, instead of completing it.
- Snooze: pushes it out a day when it is not the right moment, without losing it.
- Skip: dismisses it when it does not apply this time, without it counting as overdue.
When you have a stack of older reminders to clear at once, the strip also offers a bulk Mark done and Skip all.
Take your care calendar with you
You can subscribe to your care schedule from your own calendar app (Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, and the like) using Creatures' calendar feed, so reminders and care-plan due dates appear alongside the rest of your week. Care plans, covered next, feed this same Upcoming care list, so a plan you apply once keeps your calendar populated on its own.
