Seller fees and the Creatures Pro subscription

Selling on Creatures carries a small per-sale fee, and there is a subscription, Creatures Pro, that removes it and a couple of other fees. This article lays out the seller fee plainly and shows exactly what Pro waives, so you can decide whether the subscription pays for itself.

The 5% seller fee

  • What it is: a 5% fee on each sale, deducted from your proceeds when a sale completes.
  • How it is taken: it comes out of the amount that lands in your Wallet, so your net is the price minus this 5% (and minus any other fees you opted into, like covering the buyer fee or a promoter boost).
  • What it means: on a $1,000 sale, the seller fee is $50, leaving $950 before any optional incentives. The buyer separately pays their own 5% fee at checkout unless you chose to cover it.

This is the standard cost of selling on a protected marketplace, and it is the fee Creatures Pro removes.

Creatures Pro: price and what it does

Creatures Pro is a subscription that removes per-sale seller fees and waives some other charges. For the complete plan details, lifecycle, and every waiver in one place, see Creatures Pro: pricing, benefits, and managing your plan.

  • Price: $49.95 per month, or $499 per year (the annual plan works out cheaper per month).
  • The core benefit: no seller service fees. With Pro, the 5% seller fee on your sales is waived, so you keep the full price (minus only anything you actively opted into).
  • The math that matters: Pro pays for itself once your waived seller fees exceed the subscription. Monthly Pro ($49.95) breaks even at roughly $1,000 of sales in a month (5% of $1,000 = $50). Sell more than that regularly, and Pro saves you money; sell occasionally, and per-sale fees may be cheaper. Annual Pro ($499) breaks even at roughly $10,000 of sales across the year.

What Pro waives, in full

Beyond the seller fee, Pro removes two other fees:

  • The 5% seller service fee on sales. The main benefit, as above.
  • The caretaker stewardship fee. When you act as a caretaker stewarding an animal, there is normally a 5% provider fee on the stewardship. Pro waives it. (Stewardship is the arrangement where an animal stays in someone's care; the fee is on the caretaker's side.)
  • The off-platform transfer fee. Recording a transfer whose payment happened off Creatures normally carries a $19.95 facilitation fee on the seller's side. Pro waives it. (Even without Pro, your first off-platform transfer is free; see below.)

Put together, an active breeder or caretaker who sells, stewards, and occasionally transfers off-platform can save the seller fee on every sale, the provider fee on every stewardship, and the transfer fee on every off-platform move, all under one subscription.

A note on the off-platform transfer fee

The off-platform transfer fee is $19.95, charged to the seller when a sale's payment happened outside Creatures but the transfer is still recorded here to keep ownership and history accurate.

  • It is waived for Pro.
  • It is also waived on your first-ever off-platform transfer, even without Pro, as a one-time courtesy. After that first one, it applies at $19.95 per off-platform transfer unless you have Pro.
  • Why it exists: even an off-platform sale uses Creatures to record the change of hands, while the much larger value (held funds, buyer protection, support) only comes with selling on the platform.

How this connects to your payout

These fees are deducted from what reaches your Wallet, so Pro directly raises your net on every sale. For where fees fit in the payout flow, see How seller payout works, and for the optional incentives that also come from your proceeds, see Promoting your listing and seller bonuses.
