Sharing pregnancy updates with reserved buyers
Sharing pregnancy updates with reserved buyers
When buyers have reserved animals from an expected litter, you can let them follow the pregnancy, sharing the progress updates you choose without opening up your full records. This guide covers the share toggle, exactly what a buyer sees, and which buyers qualify.
Share an update
When you add a pre-birth progress record to a pregnancy that has reserved buyers, you can mark it share with reserved buyers. A few things define how this works:
- The toggle exists only on pre-birth progress records. Other record types cannot be shared this way, which keeps sensitive medical or financial records out of the buyer view by design.
- Only the updates you explicitly mark are shared. Each update is a separate decision, so nothing is shared in bulk and nothing leaks by default. Pre-birth progress stays private to you unless you turn this on.
- Updates are shared only with buyers who hold a reservation on that litter, never publicly.
- Saving a newly shared update notifies those buyers, so they know there is something new to see.
What the buyer sees
Reserved buyers see the pregnancy under "Pregnancies you're following" in their dashboard (on their purchases page).

For each followed pregnancy, the buyer sees a deliberately limited view:
- The expected window (the due date or date range), so they know roughly when to expect the birth.
- A born indicator once the litter arrives.
- The updates you shared, each showing its date, your note, and the photos. Only images are passed through (resized for the web); videos and documents are not exposed even if they were attached to your record.
That is the whole of it. Buyers do not see your other records, your unshared progress notes, or anything beyond the updates you chose, which is what lets you keep them in the loop while keeping your records yours.
Which buyers qualify
Following a pregnancy is for buyers who already hold a reservation on the litter, specifically a buyer whose deposit is held or whose deposit has been matched to a specific animal. A buyer who has only applied, or whose application was accepted but who has not yet placed a deposit, does not yet follow the pregnancy, and a closed, cancelled, or refunded reservation no longer does. (From the buyer's side, placing that deposit is covered in Reserving from a breeder: applications and deposits.)
Offering an expected litter to buyers, taking applications, and collecting the deposits that create these reservations are set up on the litter's count-group listing; see Offer a count group to buyers.
